Dear Dorchester Families,
Despite some chilly mornings, it is definitely feeling a little more like Spring is in the air this week, and it has been lovely to see the children playing together in the sunshine. It was also wonderful to see the children in awe of the 'sky art' being left by the contrails of the planes passing overhead on Wednesday - lots of children in groups just staring upwards - not quite a natural wonder but at least it's not on a screen!
I don't think this will be an issue next week, as the cloud appears to be returning, but I did already notice one of our fairer children getting a pink tinge on the back of his neck yesterday. If the forecast is for sunshine, please make sure you send your child with a sunhat, preferably one that shades their neck such as a Legionnaires Cap or a full brimmed hat - and it's never too early in the year for sun cream if the sun is strong.
Remember to make a note of the dates of the end of term events coming up - the Spring Festival, the Year 4 production, the Mothers' Day shop, Yippy's raffle dates etc. Also note that next week is the start of our Big Walk and Wheel Challenge - we will record the ways in which the children travel to school each day - the class showing the most sustainable travel method will win a non uniform day and some extra play time as well as our prestigious 'golden trainer' award! See the news article below for more information.
Thank you to everyone who entered our Comic Relief joke competition today. We look forward to sharing the school's favourite joke with you in next week's newsletter.
Enjoy the weekend.
