Dear Parents
It was wonderful to see so many of you at our parent consultations this week. It is always lovely to see children showing such pride in their work as they share it with their parents and carers. We had lots of lovely feedback from parents about how well children have settled into the academic year, the quality of their work and, most importantly, how happy they are to be part of the Dorchester community. Thank you for your generosity at the book fair too - the children are always so excited about the fair, just the sort of enthusiasm we want around reading. We will let you know how much the book fair raised in books for our school when we have the figure from Scholastic.
We had another busy Open Morning this week, with our Year 6 prefects doing a fantastic job of showing our prospective parents around the school and sharing their views of their experiences at Dorchester. As always, our visitors were unfailingly positive about the children's enthusiasm and the pride they show in their school. Our next Open Morning is on Wednesday 1st November; if you know anyone who will be looking for a Nursery/Reception place in September 2024 please encourage them to join us.
It has been a very busy sporting week for us. Last Friday, a group of Year 3 and 4 children went to a Skipping and Arrows Festival at Rushy Meadow. This week has seen a Year 3 and 5 Multiskills Festival at Wallington High School, Year 4, 5 and 6 Borough Cross Country on Thursday and our first boys' football match. Do have a look at the Sports News below to see how our children got on - there is much to celebrate.
In addition this week children in Year 4 have enjoyed a fantastic day at Butser Farm and Year 2 took a walk round the local area to help them to hone their mapwork skills.
I am hugely grateful to all the staff in school who continue to provide such wonderful opportunities for our children despite all the additional work that these bring, especially during a Parent Consultation week. Thank you to you all.
Have a great weekend.
Kind regards
Cathy Bell
