Our Music and Mental Health Ambassadors met this week, see what they got up to!
Our Music Ambassadors met, had an epic jam in the chord of C with a plethora of instruments involved (took a while to tune up I might add!) discussed the skills and responsibilities a music ambassador will have, then decided that once a week the music ambassadors should lead an activity in class which is simply listening to a song of someone’s choice and having a short discussion about it.
Some prompts:
1. How Does it Make You Feel?
2. What Do You Hear?
3. What Does it Make You Imagine?
4. Do You Like It?
There are no right or wrong answers when it comes to appraising music. It's all about how the music makes you feel and what you hear when you listen to it. So close your eyes, open your ears, and let the music take you on a journey!
Mental health ambassadors - as above we discussed the skills and responsibilities they should have, and then practised a range of regulation and mindfulness techniques, one of which they will choose to lead on in their classes. In addition to this, all ambassadors will work with their class to start a gratitude jar. They have a document in their ambassador wallets which explains how this can work. Essentially, it’s a place where children can write short messages to give thanks and show gratitude for things at school and in their lives. The idea is these get read out every so often to promote positivity and wellbeing.
Well done for the excellent contributions and enthusiasm from all the ambassadors this week!
