How many sweets do you think there are in this jar? If you think you know the answer, bring in £1 next week, and Hazel and some of our Oasis children will offer you a list of numbers to choose from (100 - 650) and the winning number, or closest to it, will win the entire jar! You can enter as many times as you like and will cost £1 per entry. The money is being raised to by some new sensory resources for the Oasis classes.
Our Faith and Culture ambassadors delivered an informative and delightful assembly to the children in KS1 and had several parents come along to watch also. Perfectly timed since Ramadan begins for Muslims today! The ambassadors spoke clearly and confidently after a few practices together, and were keen to also share what it means to be a faith and culture ambassador at Dorchester, and in Naya's words, 'I like being a Faith and Culture ambassador because I like to celebrate the school's diversity."
We had a sensational afternoon on Thursday with a some wonderful performances from children of all ages.
Special thanks to all those who sang in the Junior and Infants choirs, as well as to their teachers Mrs Cucharo, Mrs Wyman and Mrs Rich for all the rehearsals leading up to the big performances.
More thanks as well to all those who played in the recorder group, and of course thanks to Mrs Bell and also Mrs Cucharo for their coaching and playing. Of course, a very special congratulations to all individual performers too: Astrid (Y1), Scarlett (Y6), Ethan (Year 5), Pavlo (Y6), Nuwaira (Y6) and Haim (Y5). Scarlett and Nuwaira, beautiful singing. Astrid, Pavlo and Haim, lovely piano playing, and Ethan some very loud and super drumming!
The afternoon was a pleasure to watch and be a part of and is such a nice way to take us through to the half term break with the gift of music and performance. Last of all, thanks to all those who supported by coming along to watch!
Our Music and Mental Health Ambassadors met this week, see what they got up to!
Juliette, Clarice and Jason were raising money for the British Heart Foundation this afternoon, as a part of a JLT initiative to raise funds for the chosen charity. It was Juliette's idea to sell her homemade bracelets, and Jason and Clarice were also helping with some of the making too. All three of them were well-prepared and organised and managed to sell several this afternoon! They will be selling them outside the assembly hall again next Friday 7th February too, so remember your coins - £1.50 for one or £2.50 for two bracelets! Well done again team!
