Year 2: What does it mean to be significant?

This week, Year 2 learned a new word, 'significant'. A significant person is someone who has changed events in the time they lived; improved or worsened people’s lives; changed people’s minds/ ideas or had a lasting impact on a country or the world. We compared people such as Queen Elizabeth, Barack Obama, Marcus Rashford, Simone Biles and Albert Einstein to explore what it means to be significant.

We discussed what each person had done to make them significant, and then each child chose who they thought was the most significant person from our list.
