How long have toys existed?

This week, we looked at lots of examples of early toys, including Ancient Greek yoyos from around 2500 years ago. Other examples of early toys are spinning tops, marbles and dolls. The children were asked to look at examples of toys throughout the year, particularly in the last 70 years, to decide which decade they fell into. The children were so surprised to learn that Rubik's Cubes were not a modern toy, and nearly fell off their chairs when they found out that they are actually 50 years old!
