How are different materials used for different purposes?
Children in Year 2 have thrown themselves into their learning this week - we're all hoping they find that chocolate cake soon!
This week in English, the children have been completing their first Star Write of Year 2 by retelling the story of the Jolly Postman using interesting adjectives and verbs. In Maths, they have begun to learn about counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and completed an end of unit check to showcase all they have learnt so far. In Geography, they learnt about map symbols and were able to identify some, such as car parks, camp sites and places of worship. In Computing, they found out that Mrs Marwood may have seen who stole the chocolate cake from the staffroom and so they composed emails to her to find out more! In Science, they thought about why we use certain materials to make different objects and why some are not. They decided that using glass to make a bag, for example, was a bad idea because it was too fragile. They also finished off the felt art pieces which they began last week. Some great work from the children this week, well done.
