I am so pleased with every single player from yesterday’s matches. We were expecting another tough fixture, but everyone came out with such positive attitudes and determination that we managed to do ourselves proud. Great approaches and maximum effort from everyone – well done!
In the first half of the A team game, we tried to force the ball a little when bringing it into attack rather than moving and passing like we know how to, which led to us losing possession on a number of occasions, but that improved in the second half when everyone settled more. Defensively, yesterday we worked particularly hard and did a great job in turning the ball over and disrupting the play for the opposition. Our defence players just didn’t give up and actually paved the way for a late comeback – with a little more time maybe we could have run with that and brought the score even closer, as we have good shooters who can, and will, score when given the chance, as proven yesterday.
That game concludes our League matches for this season and despite the difficult results in the last couple of weeks the A team have still finished 4th overall in the League which is a real achievement and one they should be extremely pleased with!
The B team played a calm game and showed really good technical aspects, such as footwork, throughout. They passed the ball nicely in parts of the game and tried to move into space to receive. Finding the last couple of accurate passes needed to bring the ball from the goal third into the circle was difficult and is something we will continue to work on. Again, defensively, they all worked really hard to win the ball back and earn a deserved draw.
