Skipping Workshops

Year 3, Year 4 and those Year 6s still with us in school last week were all treated to a skipping workshop last week led by Sasha, a fantastic instructor from Dan The Man Skipping.

Having recapped a basic skip the children then moved through different types of skip, progressed onto some rope tricks to slip into their skipping routines and finished with some long rope challenges as a group.

It reminded us all what good fun skipping is but also what good exercise it is - we all felt as if we'd done some good exercise by the end of our sessions! It had also whetted some of the children's appetites for skipping during their break times, which was great to see.

Skipping is a great way to get active individually and a long rope is a fun way to play together as a group too, fairly inexpensively. There are also lots of tutorials online showing different tricks and extensions to the basics so, with the summer holidays looming, this could be a good way to keep developing some of their recently practised skills!
