Sports Days 2024

Despite the rather unreliable weather we've had over the past month we were very pleased to have been able to complete all four Sports Days this year!

We kicked off with the Reception event back in June, where all the children took part in a carousel of races and competitions.  KS1 also competed in a carousel of races and events last week, but their scores were recorded to provide an overall House winning team.

As we move into KS2, Sports Days become more track and field focused and reflect the athletics work the children have been doing in PE lessons across the summer term. The events included everyone taking part in a combination of sprint, hurdles, shot put, javelin, long jump, quoit sling and some hotly contested selective races for those children who put themselves forward over 80m, 1 lap in Year 5/6 and 4x100m relays. The scores from all of these events then combined to decide the overall winning House Team for Year 3/4 and for Year 5/6.

At every event it was so encouraging to see all of the children out aiming to achieve their personal bests and earning points for their House Teams. They showed great support for each other and created such a positive atmosphere throughout.

Well done to all the children for such great individual performances!

We must also say well done to all the parents who stepped up to the start line for all the adults' races - thank you for entering into the fun of the day and well done for walking away unscathed at the end!

Finally, congratulations to our overall House winners for Sports Days this year:

KS1: Elizabeth (Blue)

Year 3 & 4: Elizabeth (Blue)

Year 5 & 6: Attenborough (Green)
