Year 6's cruel first game
On Thursday the year 6 boys played in the Sutton and Cheam cup.
Football can be a cruel game. It was a heartbreak for the Y6 boys in the Sutton and Cheam cup as they conceded an injury time goal to send St Cecilia's to the next round. It was a tale of two halves as St Cecilia's had the better chances and most of the possession in the first half with Teddy pulling off a string of good saves to keep the game level; however it was Dorchester that started the second half the brighter of the two teams with Archie stretching the St Cecilia's defence and having some good opportunities after some good link up play with Jake G down the right hand side.
As the game went on and with extra time looming, both teams looked for a hero and it was St Cecilia's who finally found a breakthrough in injury time that sparked joyous celebrations.
The boys can be incredibly proud of themselves; their sportsmanship was shown by a few of the St Cecilia's parents coming over to praise the boys on their sporting conduct. We now look ahead to the league campaign getting under way in the next few weeks alongside both cup games for Y5 boys and the Y5/6 girls respectively.
Dorchester played their hearts out and can be very proud of the performance they put in. A special shout out to Jake S, Jack, Frankie and Ronnie who had excellent games but it was Teddy who picked up the MOTM award.
Here's to a great season ahead!
