Year 4 - Would you prefer to be Athenian or Spartan?

Over the last two weeks we have looked at what it would have been like to be a child in Ancient Greece. The two main social groups were based in Athens and Sparta. As a year group, we decided that that if we wanted an education it was better to be a girl living in Sparta and if we are a boy we would have been better living in Athens. Athenians were much more academic and Spartans were more physically fit. It was the Spartans who were defensive and the Athenians who had armies that attacked. This was a whole area of life in Ancient Greece that has fascinated all of us. Next time we are going to be thinking about what general life in Ancient Greece was like for a child.
