Year 2: What is inside a seed?

This week in Science, we looked inside kidney beans! On the outside we found the seed coat, which protects the baby plant (beginning of the root and sprout system) and the food store, which helps the plant grow. The children enjoyed being able to physically take apart and see the different parts of the seed. We then connected this to the life cycle of a bean plant. The children were able to explain how the different parts of a seed were used in a plant's journey.
