Girls' Football vs St Cecilia's
Girls' Football team keep up their positive start with a 1-1 draw in an exciting match.
After a great win last week the girls approached this game with a little more confidence and certainly more awareness of their positional roles to hold their shape better. Dorchester certainly had more possession throughout most of the game, with a few shots from Macey, Aiya, Maya and Dolly not quite hitting the target, but a great finish from Macey early in the second half, which came from Gkalena winning possession back in our own box and the girls combining to play the ball up the pitch, put Dorchester ahead and looking like scoring again to cement the lead. Unfortunately they couldn’t convert but going into the dying minutes of the game they were still leading. This was St Cecilia’s strongest phase of the match as they started to gain more possession in our half and began to get some shots on target. The girls had to defend really hard and Lily in goal kept our clean sheet at that point with a couple of important saves and lots of confident gathering of the ball. With only a minute left on the clock the ball managed to slip past our defence and left St Cecilia’s with the chance they’d been looking for to even the score.
The game finished 1-1 and the girls have lots of positives to take into their next game on Tuesday, remembering that they are still unbeaten this season!
Very well done Macey, Lily, Scarlett, Lola, Maya, Lexie, Amelie, Aiya, Gkalena and Dolly.
