Why is Evolution so crucial?
It has been a busy week in Year 6!
Our Science lesson this week was great fun as we shared a simulation about Evolution and Adaptation with the children. This allowed them to experiment with changing the variables around a colony of rabbits to see how their continued existence was affected. They could vary the temperature, amount of food, number of predators and the colour of fur. The simulation then showed how the population of rabbits varied. It also displayed the information as a graph, linking our Science with Maths. The children became very excited (and quite loud!) as they explored and experimented. We have shared the link on Google Classroom, so the children can continue to explore at home too. In English, we have been learning about formal language and passive voice, in preparation for our next Star Writing - a non-chronological report about a rainforest animal. We have also been finding out about the different layers of the rainforest in Geography and considering the benefits of this valuable resource to the world.
