How would you subtract or take away in Maths? Can you give me an example?

This week in Reception we been reading ‘The Three Little Pigs’ story, but this time we were learning to retell the story using Makaton signs. The children were amazing at doing the signs and narrating the story at the same time, maybe they can show you.

In Maths, we have been learning about spatial reasoning. We looked at how we can use shapes to make different shapes. On the tables we have been practising how to ‘take away’ through a game called ‘Smashing Subtraction’.

The children showed incredible fine motor skills, when they made their salt paintings.

For writing, the children have been carrying out early morning work, in which they have been writing different sentences using the pictures shown on the board. We have also been using our phonics to write sentences about things that interest us.
