Settling In
How can you show that you are ready to learn?
The Reception children have finished their second week as full time pupils and they are really settling into the class routines. This week we have explored how old we are by making birthday cakes, and decorated our family portraits. We have also thought about what it feels like to be angry or calm and what makes us have those feelings. During carpet time, we have looked at the School’s Behaviour Policy of Ready, Respectful and Safe. The children gave their own ideas of how they thought we could show that we can be all of those things. In phonics, we have continued to learn new sounds and how to recognise them at the beginning of words. We have also started to blend sounds together to make a word. The other class has had their first experience of Forest School! They met the chickens and enjoyed exploring the environment such as the pond and the shelter. We have seen many children playing together, learning to share and helping each other in the environment. Outside, they have loved water play using flasks and water channels and are continuing to learn why we need aprons! Children started to collect leaves to make their own artworks. They continue to learn the importance of wearing helmets when riding bikes.
